For example, BMW’s flagship saloon 7-Series now comes with a larger grille than before – an element that didn’t bode very well for many.Īd wars: When BMW, Audi, Mercedes Benz, Jaguar prove prowess through advertisementsĪnyhow, we love this healthy rivalry that spills on social media every now and then, giving Twitter a break from political discussions and indulge in some friendly banter. Cuc chin qung cáo : BMW vs Audi Bhavik Sharma thg 8 25, 2015. Most of us know why this is funny but if you don’t by any chance – the thing is BMW’s latest design philosophy includes massive versions of the brand’s trademark kidney grille for the new models. What followed was a flurry of responses from Twitter folks and what better meme defines ‘dropping the mike’ like the footage of Barack Obama dropping the mike. As everything is going digital, brand wars have also shifted to Twitter as people aren’t that interested in billboards. Nice one, That’s a really scary costume! Especially that radiator grille… BMW, Audi Have Started Ad War Again And Its Real Fun AugShubham Sachdeva Posted in Marketing Brand wars can be really interesting, BMW and Audi have the habit of playing with each other using marketing tactics. And they didn’t need an image to get their point across. However, this led to an ‘oh snap!’ moment for BMW as the social media team at Mercedes came up with a response that shut the Twitter conversation for good. #HappyHalloween from #BMW /Gpb5rvzEerīMW USA tweeted the image with a caption that read: ‘Now every car can dress up as its favourite superhero’ wishing Mercedes-Benz USA a Happy Halloween in the post. Now every car can dress up as its favorite superhero. Popularising it on social media was the obvious thing to do. On the occasion of Halloween this year, BMW advertised a Halloween costume on their merchandise website – a car cover that looks like a BMW M5 worn by what clearly is a Mercedes-Benz. The latest one was shot first from Bavaria aimed directly at the three-pointed star. Especially now, in the age of social media, poking fun and withstand burns is rather instant giving Twitter fans a dose of humour. ![]() But I think it’s fair to say this round of Audi vs BMW goes to BMW.BMW and Mercedes-Benz have been rivals for about a century now and every now & then fans get to hear some classic German humour arising out of the two teasing each other. Since BMW’s comeback, Audi has started a Facebook group asking fans to help them come up with their comeback. I just love this response, which was put together by Juggernaut Advertising in California. This is the Audi billboard that popped up earlier this year on Santa Monica Blvd. And not so long after Audi put up this billboard just asking BMW for it, this billboard was put up just across the street. Not only are you providing them with some publicity, but you are setting the stage for them to come back at you, and as you are about to see in Audi’s case, they may just come back bigger and better. It’s a bold move mentioning the competitor’s name in your ads (and the Audi vs BMW war was just beginning). The ongoing battle of Audi vs BMW is one of my favorites, and has definitely been generating a lot of buzz in 2009, but before we get to the new ads from the two car companies let’s take a look at some past examples from 2006. (For a more up to date example, please refer to any recent political campaign in your area) But lately it seems that more and more of the competitors are starting to fire back. A well-known example being the “cola wars”, the battle between Coke and Pepsi in the 80’s, with ad campaigns constantly going back and forth and taking jabs at one another. Companies comparing themselves to their competitors in an attempt to show the customer just why they are the best choice. Taking shots at the competition through comparative advertisements isn’t a new concept.
