The brief pain made her release a soft surprised yelp, before turning to look at the one who intruded upon her privacy. The feeble grip she had on the scroll suddenly jerked, disturbing the delicate tendons on her left arm. Louise stiffened and jumped back slightly on her bed. She was progressing well within the chapter which spoke about the vile ways of necromancy, when a voice shocked her back into the real world. The scroll not only spoke of this perverse form of magic, but it also detailed - extensively, much to Louise’s dismay - some of the creatures that the author have gained knowledge of from ‘The Outer Spheres’. You want to look away, you want to spare yourself the sight, yet you are too curious to resist. It was like watching the aftermath of a gruesome accident. She wanted to close the scroll, ride away from the academy, and burn it inside a deep dark pit. And as it began to explain the magic into detail, Louise realized that this was not magic, but something far more sinister. Curious, she asked for it to be brought to her, thinking that it might have been a volume borrowed from the library that she had forgotten within the folds of her cloak.īut now, she knew that that was not the case. When the healer had told her about the state of her belongings, she had found it odd that they found a scroll among her possessions. With each word, each sentence Louise grew more disgusted at the deeds of the man who wrote this, yet she just cannot look away. Louise wanted to stop reading, but she couldn’t look away.
